Finding the Right Part for Your Baratza
With 94 parts across 13 models, the fastest way to find what you need is to use the filter on the left — select your specific model under "By Use" to narrow the collection to parts compatible with your grinder. The most commonly replaced parts across the range are burr sets, ring burr holders, motors and gearboxes. Here's a guide to what each covers and when you need it.
Burr Sets
Burrs are the grinding elements at the heart of every Baratza grinder — two hardened steel (or ceramic, in the Forte and Vario) discs that cut coffee into uniform particles. Burrs wear gradually with use and should be replaced when grind consistency deteriorates noticeably, when the grinder requires a significantly finer setting to achieve the same extraction as before, or after approximately 500–1,000kg of coffee depending on the model and roast level. Replacing burrs is one of the most impactful service tasks on any grinder. Burr sets are model-specific — use the model filter to find the correct set for your grinder. Burr sets stocked include:
- Encore / Maestro Plus Burr Set
- Virtuoso and Preciso Burr Set
- Forte & Vario Ceramic Burrs Set
- Sette Grinder Brew Burr and Holder
Ring Burr Holders (Burr Carriers)
The ring burr holder — also called the burr carrier — is the plastic component that holds the upper ring burr and rotates during grinding. It is the most commonly replaced part across the Baratza range. Burr holders can crack or warp over time, particularly if the grinder is run without coffee or if a foreign object passes through. A damaged burr holder causes inconsistent grind particle size, audible grinding noises and, in severe cases, contact between the upper and lower burr. The Baratza Ring Burr Holder is compatible with the Encore, Virtuoso, Preciso and several other models; a separate version is available for the Encore ESP. Both are stocked.
Motors
The Baratza Grinder Motor 230V is a direct replacement motor compatible with the Encore, Virtuoso and several other models in the flat burr range. Motor replacement is required when the grinder hums but doesn't turn, runs very slowly, or fails to start at all after checking that the burr holder is not jammed. Motor replacement is a straightforward process covered in Baratza's own service guides and requires no specialist tools beyond a screwdriver. At £48.82 it is significantly more economical than replacing the grinder, and restores full performance when correctly installed.
Gearbox
The Baratza Gearbox 2.0 Upgrade Kit is compatible with the Encore and Virtuoso and represents an improved version of the original gearbox assembly. The gearbox transfers motor torque to the burr holder; worn or cracked gearbox teeth cause grinding noise, inconsistent burr speed and eventually a non-functioning grinder. The 2.0 kit is an upgrade over the original specification and is the correct replacement regardless of which gearbox version is currently installed.
Adjustment Assemblies
The adjustment ring and related components control grind size calibration across the grinder's range of settings. Over time, adjustment rings can wear or become damaged, resulting in grind settings that shift during use, inconsistent step-to-step adjustment, or a grinder that won't hold its set position. Adjustment parts stocked include the Grinder Adjustment Ring Kit (Encore/Virtuoso range) and the Preciso Adjustment Kit. The Vario and Forte Grinder Adjustment Tool is also available for calibration work on those models.
Hoppers and Hopper Gaskets
The Baratza Grinder Clear Hopper is a direct replacement for the bean hopper on compatible models — useful when the original hopper is cracked, yellowed or lost. The Shortened Hopper Gasket is the rubber seal between the hopper and the grinder body; a perished or missing gasket allows fine ground coffee to escape around the hopper base, causing mess and potentially clogging the adjustment mechanism.
Cleaning Tools
The Baratza Grinder Cleaning Brush is an official Baratza accessory designed for sweeping fine grounds from the burr chamber, chute and dosing area during cleaning. The Baratza Grinder Burr Removal Tool makes burr disassembly straightforward on compatible models — it hooks into the burr holder and provides the leverage needed to lift the upper burr out of the grinder body without damaging it. Both are useful additions to a Baratza maintenance kit.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know which Baratza model I have?
The model name is printed on a label on the base of the grinder and usually also on the front fascia or hopper collar. Common models include the Encore (the most widely sold Baratza grinder, a grey/white flat-burr unit), the Virtuoso and Virtuoso+ (similar form to the Encore but with a higher-spec burr set), the Sette range (distinctive narrow upright form with conical burrs and downward-dosing), and the Vario and Forte (wider, flatter units with macro/micro adjustment). If you have the original box or receipt, the model will be listed there. If in doubt, a photograph of the label on the base is the most reliable way to confirm — our team can help identify it if needed.
How often should Baratza burrs be replaced?
Baratza recommends replacing burrs after approximately 500–1,000kg of coffee depending on the model and the roast level being ground. Darker roasts are softer and wear burrs more slowly; lighter roasts are denser and more abrasive. In practice, a home grinder used daily for espresso — grinding 15–20g per session — will typically need a burr replacement every 3–5 years. The clearest signs that burrs need replacing are: needing to dial progressively finer to achieve the same extraction; a noticeable reduction in grind uniformity; and increased static or clumping compared to when the grinder was new. Fresh burrs make a more significant difference to shot quality than most people expect.
Can I repair my Baratza grinder myself?
Yes — Baratza actively supports home repair and publishes detailed service guides and video instructions for all common repairs on their website. Most repairs — including burr replacement, burr holder replacement, gearbox replacement and motor replacement — require only a screwdriver, take 15–30 minutes, and are well within the ability of anyone comfortable following illustrated instructions. The Baratza Burr Removal Tool makes the most fiddly step (removing the upper burr) significantly easier and is worth having for any burr-related work. Coffee Hit's warranty page covers the Baratza warranty terms for UK customers, and our team can advise on diagnosis if you're unsure what part is needed.
Is it worth repairing a Baratza or should I replace it?
For the majority of common faults, repair is significantly more cost-effective than replacement. A new burr holder costs £12.15; a motor costs £48.82; a full burr set for an Encore costs under £60. Compared to the cost of a new Encore (around £150) or Virtuoso (around £250), repairing the component that has actually failed is almost always the better economic decision — and you end up with a grinder that is effectively restored to new condition rather than starting from scratch. The exception is if multiple major components have failed simultaneously, or if the grinder body itself is physically damaged. Baratza's repairability is a deliberate design principle and one of the strongest arguments for buying within the brand.
Are these genuine Baratza parts?
Yes — all parts in this collection are genuine Baratza OEM components, sourced directly through Baratza's official distribution network. Coffee Hit is an authorised Baratza service partner in the UK, which means the parts we stock are the same components Baratza uses in their own service and repair programme. Using genuine parts maintains your grinder's performance specification and does not void the Baratza warranty. We do not stock third-party or aftermarket Baratza parts.
